Joomla How to upload and delete pictures

This is an easy part. If you did not see this tutorial, you will somehow manage pictures quite well after several tries.

There is a content called "Media Managerhttp://snowyn.wordpress.com/

Under this function, users are allowed to create folder, delete folder, upload pictures and delete pictures. http://snowyn.wordpress.com/

Notes: there is no notification of deleting folders or pictures. The data will be gone with only one click! http://snowyn.wordpress.com/

Notes 2:each time "Start Upload" is clicked, the interface will jump back to the root directory ("media"). Users much click the sub directory again to continue uploading images. It seems Joomla platform still needs to improve.

Pretty easy right? Now let's look at: http://snowyn.wordpress.com/

Joomla How to insert pictures directly into articles

Click Content -> Article Manager http://snowyn.wordpress.com

Then, click the article you want to edit or create a new article.

There are two places to add in pictures: http://snowyn.wordpress.com

Under button "insert/edit image", users are able to insert and edit pictures.

Under button "Image", you will see: http://snowyn.wordpress.com

However, under single article, there is nowhere to create new folder.

Users need to go to Media Manager to arrange picture folders. http://snowyn.wordpress.com

After you upload the picture, remember to select the picture then click insert.

Now the picture is shown in text panel. http://snowyn.wordpress.com

Click this picture, then click button "insert/edit image" to change references such as border, space and etc.

Feel a little bit clear? http://snowyn.wordpress.com

Joomla How to find module position

If you use other people's template, you many come across such problem. Joomla 1.6Joomla 1.7

1. In backend, click Extension -> Template Manager http://snowyn.wordpress.com/

2. Click Options and set Preview Module Positions to "Enabled". http://snowyn.wordpress.com/

Then click "save & close".

3. Go to front-end (browser), append "?tp=1" at the end of the URL. http://snowyn.wordpress.com/

eg. http://snowyn.wordpress.com -> http:// snowyn.wordpress.com?tp=1

If there is parameter such as  http:// snowyn.wordpress.com/index.php?id=26 (parameter), then, append "&tp=1".

(Unfortunately, users cannot view module positions @ wordpress site...)

4. The module positions will be outlined in red. http://snowyn.wordpress.com/

However, whether this method is useful still depends on the design of template.

Wish you everything goes well in future. http://snowyn.wordpress.com/

Joomla how to display modules beside articles

"How to put a module inside an article?" Joomla 1.5Joomla 1.6Joomla 1.7

Sometimes, this question goes in this way, but I prefer to say append modules to articles.

By default, Joomla template will display articles with top/side menu and footer only. Designers need to add in other modules manually.

Notes: users need to edit in Module Manager, not Article Manager. http://longervogue.blogspot.com

1. Click Extensions -> Module Manager

2. Scroll down, there is a panel called "Menu Assignment". http://snowyn.wordpress.com/

 Click Main Menu, then you will see all the articles you added (if you added already).

This is a physical job since users need to check articles they need module by module.

Take a deep breath and continue to work. Ganbatte! http://snowyn.wordpress.com/

How to install Joomla Templates

1. Log in the back-end site. [www.(siteName).com/administrator]
2. Click Extensions -> Extension Manager http://snowyn.wordpress.com
Upload your downloaded template files (normally zip format) from PC, and then click "Upload & Install".
There are 3 ways to upload a template as you can see (Upload Package File, Install from Directory, and Install from URL).
Normally I browse websites to download my favorite templates and after that upload to the server.
3. Wait for notification http://snowyn.wordpress.com
If there is no error in the package file, you will probably see:
Unfortunately, you will see this: http://snowyn.wordpress.com
In this case, you need to make sure your downloaded template version matches the platform or your account has the permission to upload to the server. http://snowyn.wordpress.com
Notes: there is no pop up box telling you success or fail, and sometimes nothing is shown after you click "upload & Install" button...(所以我叫它爱抽风的Joomla!!!)
4. View uploaded new template
Click Extensions -> template manager
You are able to view all template styles under this template manager.
Wish you good luck in the future design! http://snowyn.wordpress.com
